Word:

What is this?

A. Semantic lexical dictionary = Dictionary on Steroids.

Semanitcs is the study of meaning and how words are related. The relationships among words form a semantic network. Think of it as a dictionary plus thesaurus plus a fat dose of steriods. A semantic network describes how words relate to each other, how they are grouped into hierarchies, and how different "senses" of meaning are derived from them.

This is a great tool for writers, researchers, domainers, teachers and students. It's also great fun to just browse around and get a kick out of the data (if you're a nerd like me that is!).

This semantic reference is based on Princenton University's WordNet lexical database for the English language.
